The Region is famous for climbing, we just had an overnight stay in the very nice Acra Mountain Lodge

 Positioned on the edge of a cliff, Acra-Retreat is situated on the border of the malaria-free Elands Krans Nature Reserve. It is a good stopover point between Johannesburg and the Kruger National Park or as mentionned if you come from the south. It features a seasonal outdoor pool and a children's pool and barbecue facilities.

Horse riding, mountain climbing, abseiling and spa treatments can be arranged at the reception. The area abounds in birdlife, including species like owls, swallows and guinea fowls.

All rooms offer a private entrance to the decks with mountains views. Each room is fitted with a flat-screen TV and satellite channels. Tea/coffee facilities, a safe, and fan are standard

The kitchen offers every night a traditional African 3-course menu and the price/quality is more than good
