England / Scotland

Yes, London is to us the coolest town for Christmas Shopping within Europe. You'll find just about every month new restaurants and hotels, run by creative people with a great love for local products. 

 

Further south in Cornwall you'll find yourself on the path of romantic novelist Rosamunde Pilcher. Everybody falls in love with the cosy fishing villages and the famous TV cook Rick Stein offers a couple of good restaurants in this region, above all his world class Seafood Restaurant in Padstow. 

 

Coming up to the roots of William Wallace, Scotland, you should not miss a dinner at the Michelin starred Restaurant Paul Kitching 21212!

Germany

 

The past 20 years we travelled several times to the exciting city of Hamburg along the river Elbe. The newly opened Elbphilharmonie, the brand new Hafencity and also several new restaurants and hotels makes Hamburg to a Must Travel on your bucket list!

 

Along the west coast you can chill on the island of Sylt. Along the east coast you'll find charming villages such as Timmendorfer Strand with the brand new barefoot hotel by Til Schweiger, other fishing villages include Scharbeutz, Warnemünde.

Spain

 Well, if it comes to Mediterranean food, Spain is the place to be and at the moment for sure the 16 Michelin starred town San Sebastian!

 

Barcelona offers not just great restaurants, of course for cultural lovers the Saggrada Family by Gaudi is a Must see.

 

If you like the mixture of  big Jet Set boats but also a charming village with a wide choice of Tapa restaurants, Marbella will be your place to go.

 

And the island of Mallorca has definitely something for everybody. We both like the relaxed bay of Port de Soller and the new harbour Port Adriano, designed by Philip Stark.

 

France

 A couple of years ago we often headed down to the Côte d'Azur but after all got disappointed sometimes with the price/quality of the hotels and restaurants.

 

Summer 2018 we went for the first time to the Côté Basque on the Atlantic Sea, to the charming village of Biarritz. We loved the shopping and the people were a lot friendlier than along the Côte.

Italy

 When it comes to Italy everybody just thinks about Pasta e basta!

 

See the architectural highlights of Rom, such as the Petersdom, Coloseum, Spanish Stairs or the Beautiful Fonte di Trevi, you name it!

 

If you are in Como don't miss the mouth watering kitchen at Ristorante Feel Como by Federico Beretta! 

 

Go on a romantic Gondola Tour in Venice

 

Buy some fresh lemons in Limone sul Garda

 

 

 

 

Greece

 Mykonos is nowadays the hotspot of a young and handsome crowd! Still you'll be able to find some nice Greek Tavernas in the old town. The Veranda bar is one of the best spots to see a beautiful sunset.

 

South Thessaloniki you 'll find the Sani Resort Halkidiki. Their are several hotels and restaurants within this fantastic Resort. So if you are just up for a relaxed week along the beach this is it!

 

 

 

 

Czech Republic

 Prague - the golden City of a hundred spires!

This beautiful City on the Vltava River is very Bohemian and you'll find beautiful Monuments such as the Prague Castle and the fantastic St. Vitus Cathedral.

 

New Restaurants such as Next door by Imperial by TV star Chef Zdenêk Pohlreich celebrate a modern bistro inspired kitchen.

 

 

 

 

Switzerland

 From winter wonderland Engadine, a paradise for Cross Country Skiing within the Swiss Alps, to the reborn legend "Bürgenstock Resort",my Switzerland has many charming surprises for your next visit!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Belgium

This Country was a big surprise to us!

 

While you find medieval villages such as Brugge or Gent, you'll find relaxed villages along the sea like De Haan and Knokke-Heist.

For  interior decoration addicts, Knokke Heist is a Must on your bucket list.

 

Of course you should not miss Diamond town Antwerpen!

 

In terms of food you should try the delicious  Belgium Chocolate or some fantastic cheese 

 

 

 

 

Netherlands

 

Besides excellent bakerys such as the Café Winkel 43, the romantic Prinsengracht or Herengracht you should not miss to stop by at the Flower market which is an Amsterdam Institution!

 

 

 

 

 

Denmark

 

During winter time the Scandinavian City Copenhagen is very romantic, indeed!

 

During our stay we visited the Hippie town Christiania, which is now home of René Redzepi's New Noma, for sure on our bucket list!

If you're budget allows it, stay overnight at the Boutique hotel Nimb

 

 

 

 

 

Sweden

 

Yes, Sweden is hyggelig and if you also loved Astrid Lindgrens stories of Pippi Langstrumpf and Michel from Katthult this is gonna be your Bullerbü heaven!

 

Gothenburg is a tiny and pretty City along the Bohuslän coast and further up north, if you have time, you should not miss a visit to Smögen. And on the East Coast of course their is beautiful Stockholm 

 

Norway

 

Bergen the Gate to Fjordland is a cosy small Village with some excellent fresh seafood restaurants!

 

Oslo is not just the greenest capital of Europe, they also refurbished the harbour area Akker Brygge which now offers a wide range of restaurants and shops

 

Finland

See the northern Polar Lights in Levi - Lappland!

 

This trip was the best Wellness Holiday ever...during winter time the daylight last's only up to 5 Hours so you'll sleep at least 11h hours per night! If you also go for cross Country skiing try to rent a cottage with your own private Sauna.

Don't miss to drive down to Rovaniemi and visit the one and only Santa Claus!
